Sunday was a gorgeous day. We went to a new church, St. Andrews, in the morning. It was very different. We attended the family service, which meant that a bunch of rowdy kids were running around for the first 15 minutes or so. Then, the kids left for their classes, and it was a normal church service. EC loved her Sunday School class, while Archer walked around the vestibule with Jones. I enjoyed listening to the sermon without kids! I met some nice people, including a couple American ex-pats. One of them convinced me to come back on Monday for Bible Study. I did return on Monday, and I had a great time meeting other moms and getting into the Bible a little bit.
Sunday afternoon we decided to head out after A's nap for a hike through Christ Church meadow. The kids were excited to see some cows and ducks. We even saw some people punting. Punting is a cherished tradition in Oxford. Basically, punts are long flat boats (somewhat like gondolas.) One person stands at the back and steers with a long pole. It looks difficult to me!
The weather has been pretty fabulous. It does rain more than some places we've lived (read: San Diego) but the weather has been in the high 60s with low humidity. Who can complain? It often looks like it's about to rain, but doesn't or vice versa. You have to leave the house prepared for rain at any time!
Here are some pictures from our walk through the meadow at Christ Church college.
